Goodbye To All That

The New York Times examines how Gen Xers—feeling older now and perhaps depleted from the digital boom years—are forsaking computer play and instead enjoying a revamped board game landscape:

What was once known as Generation X—the first generation raised in the PC age—was supposed to have left the anachronistic board game in the old-world dust of the 20th century.
In the 1990’s, playing board games was about as cool as carrying a Filofax.

But as the dot-com generation experiences the first pangs of middle age, board games are back. With budding families and increasing work commitments, many young adults now prefer to spend scarce free time with real people rather than in cyberspace.
